I was homeschooled my freshman year. I was struggling- and desperately needed to be at home. I chose to be homeschooled, and I chose to return to public school my sophomore year. I liked it, but it wasn't for me long term. I wish you the best in whatever your decision is. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer and I also don't think that you have to commit one way or the other forever.

Your consideration inspired me to rant a bit myself. Certainly every parent needs to make this kind of choice for herself/himself, but please consider my argument against:

Luke and I have decided to pull Samuel out of public school and start homeschool at the end of Christmas break.
Every child is different. Some kids really do thrive in public school, but I think they still need to be challenged at home by mom and dad. (in our family, this is Jacob. He loves it and he is doing amazingly well....he will stay in public school for now)
Other kids, Samuel is a perfect example, DON"T fit into the box that is public education and because of that they struggle when they shouldn't. We are excited about this because we know it is what will be the best for him right now.
Good luck with your decision....nothing is permanent either...you can change your mind!

Well - you'll figure it out and make the right choice. You'd be an excellent teacher. BUT having been homeschooled my whole life, I'd rather cut my arms and legs off than do that to myself or my kids :) Although - homeschooling has come a long way since then!

well...i went to private christian school...maybe i'm a little "wonky" but i don't think i'm an evangelical fortress of solitude. =) but yes...the money. hmmm...bake sales? selling your funny stories of your kids on the internet?

we've been thinking the same things, but we have a couple more years to think about it. but it comes fast, yeah?
