I’m working on an editing project. Well, I’m re-working on an editing project: things got garbled up, and I’m having to go over the stuff . . . again. Sometimes when you’ve been working on the same foreverandeveramen, it gets a little old and potentially unbearable.
God bless my brother. He’s taking me on a Season 1 Experience, giving me the first season dvds of five different tv series. When you have a project that’s overwhelming, exhausting, eye-crossing, who do you call in? That’s right: Jack Bauer, a.k.a. Uncle Jack (a title bestowed upon all those who are vital to the function of our family – just like Uncle Bubba‘s former roommate Uncle Kyle, Auntie Rachael, Great-Gran Paula, etc.).
So, I bring the laptop downstairs, set up a tv tray, get a hot cup of coffee, and watch CTU Los Angeles do its thing. JJ sits in his portable high chair, and we get business done.
Do I let my son watch “24″? Yes. In fact, it’s a family thing. On Monday nights we all pile on the couch and watch Uncle Jack save America: we’re patriotic – what can I say?
Is it a good thing? Probably not. But hopefully it’ll be like my brother and I watching every episode of “M*A*S*H” as little kids- when I asked Mom how she could do that, she said, “Did you know what was going on?” No. “Well, then.”
JJ likes us; JJ likes cuddling; JJ likes watching Uncle Jack: how can we say no? (And getting work done is nice, too.)
